| Introduction:
National Industrial Communications Inc. (NICI)
was established in December 1998, which envolved from
Nat/Com Communications. Nat/Com Communications (National
Industrial Sound) was established in 1974. The company
specialiazed in building communications systems which
encompassed:
- Public Address
- Nurse call
- CCTV surveillance/monitoring
- Security card access and door control
- Intercom
- Personal alert
- Classroom intercom & paging systems
NICI has continued to expand its area of expertise
with the addition of wandering patient, infant abduction,
tracer, perimeter & roof protection, pocket paging
systems and voice over IP. We have designed and installed
these systems and continue to service our customers
in numerous hospitals, personal care homes, schools,
government facilities (both federal and provincial and
industrial and commercial buildings throughout Manitoba
& north-west Ontario.
Our completed projects vary in size and complexity.
Often the project entails the installation and integration
of more than one system. To successfully complete these
installations our technicians are required to interact
with other building trades and suppliers/installers
of different systems that need to interface with our
supplied equipment.
Our technicians complement each other in their approach
to tackling a new project. A thorough process is started
commencing with preliminary drawings/layout based on
in house or client-supplied criteria. The design is
then formulated with respect to wiring schematics, equipment
layout and location. Improvements are made prior to
a final layout with input being given by the techinician(s)
slotted to do the work. A final approval drawing is
prepared and offered for client review; equipment lists
are produced and once approved are crosschecked prior
to ordering. Once we have received the equipment, it
is examined to ensure it matches our original order
and in some cases it is shop tested and adjusted prior
to being shipped to site. This preparation process helps
to ensure an easier, more efficient installation time
on the job site. Once installation is complete, equipment
has been enabled, verified and fully tested we conduct
training for the appropriate staff to familiarize them
with the operational characteristics of the installed
equipment. From the final job site configurations drawings
are produced that are inserted into operation and maintenance
manuals that are turned over to the customers for future
reference.
Our expertise and knowledge has gained respect throughout
our industry that has allowed us to not only be the
preferred sub-contractor and supplier on certain projects
but to act as a general contractor as well. We have
recently completed a major nurse call replacement upgraded
at Grace General Hospital where we were the bonded general
contractor, hiring and co-coordinating work to be completed
in the electrical, drywall and painting trades.
We also act as an general contractor at the Canadian
Science Centre for Human and Animal Health on Arlington
street in Winnipeg. We hire and direct electrical, lightening
protection, drilling, roofing and painting trades as
well as our supplied systems.
Every effort is made to deliver a quality product,
installed and serviced by qualified and trained personnel
that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers.
